Cat Adoption Vashon Island
Vashon Island Pet Protectors, known locally as VIPP, is the island's all-volunteer animal welfare nonprofit, and it is the source of every cat on this page. Its cat shelter sits at 12200 SW 243rd Street, off Old Mill Road. Vashon has no road bridge, so plan to arrive by Washington State Ferry from West Seattle, Tacoma, or Southworth.

How do I adopt a cat from VIPP? +
Cat adoptions are by appointment only, so start by emailing cats@vipp.org. VIPP runs an application-first process (apply, review, then match) and asks that you submit an adoption application before asking about a specific cat.
Does VIPP adopt to people who live off Vashon Island? +
Yes, VIPP considers adoptive families on Vashon and in the surrounding areas. Since Vashon has no road bridge, allow time for the Washington State Ferry crossing from West Seattle, Tacoma, or Southworth when you schedule your visit.
What is included in VIPP's adoption fee? +
Adoption fees range from $50 to $450 based on each animal's age and health. Every VIPP cat is spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots before going home.
